Put your ideas into the world

I’m sitting in front of my laptop, with the text edited, ready to go. I’m about to hit publish but I hesitate. My hands tingle and my chest feels heavy. There’s a pit in my stomach.

I’m pondering what people will think when they read it. What if they hate it? What if they think I’m stupid? Or worse – what if no one sees it?

But then I stop. I take a deep breath. I hit publish. And a weight is lifted off my shoulders.

Who cares about what people think? And if no one sees it, no one can judge me.

I lean back in my seat and smile. I just put my first ideas out there. For the world to see – or not. But I accomplished something. I took the first step on my journey. And I was one step closer to my goal.

I was never one to share my ideas freely. At least not with people I didn’t know. I worried about people’s opinions. I was afraid to start, because I was afraid I would fail.

But after taking the first step it was easy to continue. Nothing bad happened after I published that first time. Therefore, I wasn’t afraid to publish again.

It’s not easy to put your ideas into the world. It’s a harsh world and it’s natural to worry about what other people think. We want to be liked. Want to be appreciated. Acknowledged and respected. We want to succeed.

But if you are afraid that your ideas or your work aren’t good enough, remember that no ideas are original.

We think that whatever we put out there needs to be perfect, new and revolutionary. But the truth is that most ideas are not new. Everyone gets inspiration from somewhere. Then they put a twist on it and make it their own.

New doesn’t mean going from nothing to a never-before-thought idea. New simply means it’s not exactly the same as something else.

You will never know if your ideas are good or bad if you don’t put them out there. The world will always tell you what direction to go. The reaction of your customers, users, or followers will show whether they like your idea or not. Even the lack of a reaction means something.

And if the world doesn’t like your idea, try something else. Keep trying until you get the result you want.

But unless you put your ideas into the world, you will never know if they could succeed.
